BlackBerry gps radio application and data plan

9 Apr 2009 | by Barton

the GPS radio application inside the BlackBerry is free. However, most mapping applications that make use of the GPS radio require a data plan in order to work. You see, the GPS inside the device is just used to pinpoint your location. The mapping programs, like TeleNav or Google Maps, show that location on a map. In order to give you directions they need to send data to your device, thus requiring a data plan. so if you buy a Blackberry phone and use GPS on it, you should pay for data plan
