Can you mark specific locations on handheld GPS navigation systems

Can you mark specific locations on handheld GPS navigation systems ? like you can on websites like Yahoo Maps, Mapquest, etc. For example, on Yahoo Maps, if you type in “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue / Washington, DC 20500,” a star appears where the White House is located on the map. Is this feature available on GPS devices?
I have Mapapolis on my pocket pc and Yes, when you enter an address, it will show you where it is on the map.
Yes the more sophisticated gps units have that feature.
