dropped garmin gps in water
I dropped garmin gps in water. Can I send it back to garmin to get it fixed ?
If you just dropped it in the water, it should be OK. This is assuming you have one of the outdoor models like eTrex, GPSmap, Rino, or Geko. Most of those are waterproof to the IPX-7 standard, which means tcan take being under one meter of water for 30 minutes. If it was in deeper water or underwater for more than 30 mins, you might have trouble.
If your GPS receiver is not functioning, I recommend phoning Garmin at 1-800-800-1020 and speaking with one of their reps. Tare knowledgeable and very helpful. I have heard of many people getting warranty repairs or replacements even if the damage is their fault or the unit is out of warranty. You can talk to Garmin and see what twill do for you. If twon’t fix your receiver free, twill likely charge you a fixed amount like $120 to get the thing fixed. Depending on the receiver you have, it may or may not be worth fixing.
