gps temperature range affect

gps temperature range affect your gps functions like magellan, garmin, tomtom etc.

if you put a Magellan GPS in your car. extreme hot or cold temperatures affect it’s gps functioning.
in your gps user manual, it says anything about temperature precaution.

I have seen many GPS units that have numbers in their manuals about their operation in different temperatures. They are usually related to the units turn on time when you plug it in your car. When the temperature is too high or too low the unit will take longer to get a connection.

All electronics are going to be effected by extreme temperatures. They may just slow the unit or make the display strange but they can also damage the unit.

As long as your unit is not constantly in these temperatures then you should be fine. You may just notice it takes your unit longer to connect to the satellites.

I would not leave it in the car in extreme temperatures. Below freezing temperatures can cause the unit to shrink and the plastic housing to crack over time and likewise in extreme heat, the plastic housing can expand and warp so that the screen might become loose. The circuitry is designed to withstand moderate temperatures, but exposure to temps below 25 and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit are not ideal for the long life of the unit ! gps unit has a built-in hard drive inside for the maps and database ans is sensitive to extreme temperature changes.
