Your ‘find’ or ‘Go To’ menu is currently set to find cities that are closest as its default. You can also find cities by name in just a couple of quick steps:

1. When you select find: Cities (or whatever POI you’re searching for). A list of closest cities will populate.

2. Select the ‘menu’ or ‘options’ (depending on your device) button once, a list of page options will appear. You can then choose ‘select by name’ and an alpha-numeric pad will appear on your screen.

3. Once you have entered enough characters to narrow your choices down to 2-3, select ‘OK’ on the alpha-numeric pad and choose your destination.

The longer the route, the more time it’ll take for your receiver to calculate your destination. I was foolish enough to calculate a route from New York to Denver the first time I tried it and had to wait a few minutes for my receiver to finish thinking before I could cancel it. If you travel far distances, try to break it up into smaller pieces: where do you plan to stop for lunch, etc.?
